Composer is now offered on a quarterly release schedule, and updated our version numbering system to reflect this. The current major release of Composer is v24.4.
Important: Composer v7, a passive support release, is supported with service packs that address only critical patches and security updates. Composer v7 is in passive support as of September 1, 2023. Security updates are not applicable to third-party dependencies. Changes to existing functionality, bug fixes, and workarounds are described in the Release Notes. Composer v7 is at end of life as of September 1, 2024. See Composer Release Vehicles.

Improved Hierarchical Filter Management

We’ve improved your experience and expanded the capabilities of hierarchical filters, making data sets of all sizes more easily navigable.

  • Use the expand and collapse icons to more readily find parent and child nodes.

  • Select and deselect items and nodes easily.

  • The new Expand All: option allows you to expand and collapse the entire data set quickly to make or review changes.

Updated Data Connector Support

Several new data connectors are available or have been updated to allow your users to connect to a wider range of sources.

  • Amazon Simple Storage Service Connector (S3) now supports the S3A protocol.

  • You can now add the IBM DB2 Connector in your Composer environment.

  • We have added support for the Business Central Connector.

Table Visuals Update

Define the columns you want to include in a table visual when you create the visual. After you’ve selected your source and the table visual type, select to include one or more columns quickly and easily. Select Create Visual: to generate your visual. If you select no columns, all columns are included by default.

Export Dates in ISO 8601 Format

You now have the option to export and share dates as an ISO 8601 date in XLSX format. This preserves any formatting you’ve applied to your data while allowing Excel users to recognize and manipulate the exported dates as dates in Excel.

Scheduled Reports Frequency

A new frequency option for sending scheduled dashboard reports,Days:, allows you to schedule a report for generation and sharing on more than one day a week with a few simple selections. Create a new schedule or edit an existing schedule to meet your needs.

User InterfaceIn this service pack, we’ve upgraded the AG Grid version used for the user interface. While this may cause some alignment issues on certain content library pages, the functionality remains unaffected. These issues will be resolved in an upcoming service pack.
Embedded DashboardsResolved an issue that previously restricted the full visibility of accessing the contextual menus located at the bottom of the embedded dashboards.

Converting Custom SQL to Stored ProcedureWhen you convert custom SQL statements in a data to a stored procedure for visuals that also rely on custom metrics, Composer appropriately updates the underlying connector capabilities to support AGGREGATION, FILTERING, JOINING, PAGING_AND_SORTING, and PROJECTION.
First and Last Weeks of the YearData used in environments that use Australian time zones now appropriately reflect the correct weeks as the last and first weeks of the year.
Bar ChartsChanging the time zone on a user’s device no longer affects the appearance and behavior of date values used in some bar chart granularities.

Time Ranges Corrected an issue that caused the time bars to display and render an incorrect start year for bar charts that used year ranges and granularity set to week..
Time Bar Corrected an issue in the time bar that used and displayed UTC time in place of the configured time zone.

Fields VisibilityCorrected an issue that caused hidden fields to display in the user interface when users create tables from a source that includes hidden fields.
