# Athena ODBC Release Notes

The release notes provide details of enhancements, features, known issues, and
workflow changes in Simba Athena ODBC Connector 1.3.1, as well as the version
history.

  Enhancements & New Features

  * \[AO-1442] Updated Driver and DriverIam support

    The connector now uses Driver and DriverIam version 10.3. Previously, the\
    connector used Driver and DriverIam version 10.2.

  * Updated third-party libraries

    The connector now uses the following third-party libraries:

    * AWS\_SDK\_CPP 1.11.6 (previously 1.10.5)
    * ICU 74.2 (previously 71.1)
    * libcurl 8.9.1 (previously 8.4.0)
    * OpenSSL 3.0.15 (previously 3.0.13)
    * Zlib 1.3.1 (previously 1.2.13)

  Known Issues
  The following are known issues that you may encounter due to limitations in
  the data source, the connector, or an application.

  * \[AO-479] The connector does not support the SQLDescribeParam API call.

    This is a limitation of the datasource.

Workflow Changes =============================================================

The following changes may disrupt established workflows for the connector.

  * \[AO-1410] Removed support for CentOS

    Beginning with this release, the connector no longer supports CentOS. For a
    list of supported operating systems, see the Installation and Configuration

  * \[AO-1398] Removed Visual Studio 2013 support

    Beginning with this release, the connector no longer supports Visual Studio
    2013\. For information about the supported Visual C++ Redistributable for

  * \[AO-1366] Updated documentation for Use HTTP Proxy For IdP Host property

    The description of the Use HTTP Proxy For IdP Host property has been
    updated with new parameters. For more information, see the Installation and
    Configuration Guide.

    The connector now uses SEN SDK version 10.3. Previously, the connector

  The following issue has been resolved in Simba Athena ODBC Connector 1.3.0.

  * \[AO-1436] The connector fails to read metadata for a column with Japanese
    characters.

  Resolved Issues
  The following issue has been resolved in Simba Athena ODBC Connector 1.2.4.

  * \[AO-1415] When using parenthesis in queries, the connector returns a fetch
    error.

  Enhancements & New Features

  * \[AO-1395] FIPS support

    You can now enable FIPS support by downloading a separate FIPS package
    available for assistance. For more information, see the Installation and

  * \[AO-1398] Upgraded Visual Studio support

    The connector now uses Windows Visual Studio 2022. For supported versions,
    see the Installation and Configuration Guide.

  * \[AO-1400] Upgraded RStudio support

    The connector can now share the RStudio branded connector document in a
    format other than PDF.

  Resolved Issues
  The following issue has been resolved in Simba Athena ODBC Connector 1.2.3.

  * \[AO-1403] When using a proxy server without the root certificate, the
    connector fails to establish the connection.

  * \[AO-536] Updated RStudio support

    On macOS, the connector now supports RStudio.

  * \[AO-1326] Use Single Catalog And Schema support

    The connector can now return only single catalog and schema that is
    specified under connection parameters. To do this, select the Use Single
    Catalog And Schema checkbox (set the UseSingleCatalogAndSchema property to
    1\). For more information, see the Installation and Configuration Guide.

  Resolved Issues
  The following issues have been resolved in Simba Athena ODBC Connector 1.2.1.

  * \[AO-1285] When the prepared statements with array of parameters using
    column-wise schema are run, the connector returns an incorrect query
    result.

  * \[AO-1346] When the \$file\_modified\_time system column is selected, the
    connector returns an incorrect column size.

  * \[AO-1365] When binding parameters related to SQLPrepare of Select queries,
    the connector returns an error.

  Enhancements & New Features

  * Updated macOS support

    On macOS, the connector is now a Universal driver that natively supports
    Apple Silicon. For security best practices, it is suggested to keep both
    the connector and OS updated.

  * Updated SEN SDK support

    The connector now uses SEN SDK version 10.2. Previously, the connector
    used SEN SDK version 10.1.
