# Manage  User Groups in Visual Data Discovery

Create and update groups in the [Groups work area](/logi-symphony/symphony/v24/manage-users/symphony-user-groups).

Use groups to assign privileges to groups of users in data discovery. Groups are most useful when a number of users require the same access restrictions. Users can be assigned to multiple groups.

  **Note:** <br />SAML and LDAP groups that are automatically created in Symphony must be manually assigned privileges.
</Note>

The main advanced task you can complete in data discovery instead of the Symphony Groups work area is assigning specific group privileges to your groups.

* System Administrators: Edit and update group privileges for groups you've created for Global Users. This does not include system-created groups, such as the administrators group.
* Tenant Administrators: Edit and update group privileges for groups created for your tenants. This does not include system-created groups, such as the administrators group.
